For all their innovation, Bitcoin and most major cryptocurrencies share a critical limitation: they are pseudonymous, not private. Every transaction is permanently recorded on a public ledger. Over time, sophisticated analysis can trace flows of funds and link addresses, potentially exposing financial activity to anyone watching.
Privacy has long been one of the most requested features for pseudonymous networks in the crypto world. Today, we’re excited to announce a major step forward.
Edge now integrates Bridgeless, the Layer-1 blockchain that powers Confidential Layer, giving users an entirely new way to transact private versions of BTC, soon to be ETH, and many more, directly inside the Edge app.
From Bitcoin to Private Bitcoin on Zano

Edge has supported the privacy-focused Zano blockchain for some time. With this new integration, you can now bridge Bitcoin and onto the Zano chain itself.
When you make this move, a new token is minted on Zano that represents the bridged asset. For Bitcoin, that token is BTCx – effectively Bitcoin on Zano.
BTCx behaves like Bitcoin in value and supply, but it lives natively on Zano. Because Zano is built for privacy, every BTCx transaction is shielded: amounts, senders, and recipients remain confidential while remaining cryptographically verifiable.
In the future, the same process can apply to other supported assets like ETH, creating private Zano-based equivalents with the same economic properties as the originals.
How it works in Edge
Swapping to BTCx is as simple as any other trade:
- Open the Exchange scene in Edge.
- Choose Bitcoin as the asset you want to trade.
- Select BTCx (or the appropriate Confidential Asset) as the asset you’d like to receive.
Edge takes care of the rest.
Behind the scenes, Bridgeless provides the decentralized, non-custodial infrastructure to securely bridge assets across chains, while Confidential Layer mints the Zano-based token representing your bridged asset. There’s no third-party tools to navigate and no compromise on self-custody.
Why it matters
This integration means you can now:
- Transform Bitcoin into a fully private Zano-based token (BTCx).
- In the future, apply the same privacy to other supported assets, such as ETH.
- Keep full control of your keys and funds at every step.
- Shield transaction details from public view while retaining on-chain verifiability.
Instead of exposing your balances and activity on a transparent blockchain, you gain the privacy protections of the Zano blockchain, without giving up the underlying value or decentralized nature of your coins.
Privacy made practical
At Edge, we believe privacy is a fundamental right, not an advanced feature. Our mission is to make powerful privacy tools simple and accessible so anyone can use them.
With Bridgeless and Confidential Layer, Edge users can now transform traditionally pseudonymous assets into private, Zano-native tokens – all within a familiar wallet experience.
Get started today
Update to the latest version of Edge and visit the Exchange scene to try it out. Today users can swap BTC to BTCx. In the future, there will be more supported assets available for bridging into Zano-based tokens, all while keeping the process seamless and fully self-custodial.
This is just the beginning. We’re excited to keep expanding the privacy options available to Edge users and to continue building tools that put you in full control of your money and your data.
