With the recent revelations of the FTX (2nd largest crypto exchange) mismanagement, hack and likely fraud at the expense of thousands of customers the importance of self custody of your crypto assets has been brought into sharp focus. Edge Wallet is a leader in mobile self custody and also is also a self-custodied asset exchange. We first hosted Edge (formerly Airbitz) at our meetup in 2015 and we are very happy to have their CEO Paul Puey back with us! Paul founded Edge back in 2014 and prior to that he held lead engineering positions with Nvidia and Chromatic Research and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
With a unique security architecture that simplifies private key management, Edge has put together an application with privacy and self-custody as the cornerstones of their product. Their goal is making crypto more approachable by maximizing user experience.
Paul will be discussing new features in Edge wallet which aim to make purchasing and trading of crypto assets a seamless experience in the wallet without having to trust a third party to hold your funds. As we have seen time and again in this industry these large centralized players seem to topple on a regular basis taking the funds of their users with them. The decentralized or self custodied exchange is the next evolution of the crypto industry and Paul is going to show how Edge Wallet is helping us get there!
