Edge Development Update

In the latest release of Edge, we’ve added support for Ethereum Classic (ETC), the Compound Governance token (COMP), and made updates to our FIO integration for new users of the protocol.

Ethereum Classic is a smart contract platform designed to support decentralized applications (dApps). Ethereum Classic is the legacy chain that remained intact after the current Ethereum community forked away from the legacy Ethereum chain following a contentious hard fork, known as The DAO fork, in July of 2017.

Like Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum Classic (ETC) features a virtual machine optimized for smart contract processing (known as the Ethereum Virtual Machine or EVM). Its native token, ETC, is used to pay for transactions and incentivize miners to run and secure the platform. Ethereum Classic offers a more defined monetary policy and inflation schedule and does not intend to transition to a Proof of Stake (PoS) design.

The Ethereum Classic community emphasizes censorship resistance, immutability, proof of work, and a predictable and capped inflation schedule.

We also added native support for the new governance token of the Compound Dapp: COMP.

Tap on the 3 dots at the top right of your Ethereum Wallet panel
Tap on the “COMP” token & then tap on “Save”
A COMP Wallet will be created under your Ethereum Wallet

Compound is a decentralized money market built on Ethereum. Compound uses smart contracts to give individuals and organizations the ability to borrow and/or lend into and out of a pool of Ethereum based assets, algorithmically and in a trust minimized way. Compound is one of a growing ecosystem of applications that allow for automated or decentralized finance to take place. The COMP asset gives holders of the asset governing rights over the protocol, allowing a broad community of holders to administer and govern the Compound protocol.

In addition to the above additoins, users that haven’t registered a FIO address on our @edge domain can now do so in this release for free! Let us know if you have any questions about how to set this up.
